PNWMA Website and Social Media: Reviewing improvements to and effectiveness of website traffic, linking and social media use. Awards Hall of Fame (photos and recognition of season winners for each year) to potentially be developed. Potentially look at club specific pages for clubs/members.

Update: Leaving open to encourage improvements and recruitment for additional volunteers/association members.

Damien/

Christine

OPEN

21-24

Secretary / Calendar Coordinator Positions: Will be vacated in July/August. Coverage and replacement will be needed.

All

OPEN

24-24

Stacyc Class: Discussion had related to very young riders and a stacyc scooter class. Potential sponsors for medallions/awards ect. may be available. Further discussion implied that the class or race would be unofficial, for fun only, and for very young riders not ready to ride in the PeeWee Classes. Race could occur as a pre-race on small simple course. Further discussion and confirmations needed.

Updated: Further discussion had, pilot to occur at Cat Scratch race. Further discussion to be had.

Update: Pilot well received however due to weather conditions and length of race, the race was shortened by ten minutes. Learnings and questions:

A race for very young/inexperienced individuals may require exceptions, such as adjustment to course and time.

PeeWee is to be a “D” course only, new courses are not required of clubs. However, clubs may make adjustments if needed. Ex.: “Little” D’s race separate from “Big” D’s.

International Motorsports has a Stacyc friendly race course to be set-up and be piloted at a future race. This would be a bonus race only.

Sarah

OPEN

27-24

Note Only: Treasury report to come May 15.

Update: Treasurer did not attend May 15th meeting, pushed to June 19th meeting.

Update: Treasury report provided; noted that some clubs that are listed on website have not paid their annual fee. List of paid/unpaid to be provided and removed from website by webmaster.

Items for Review (from club members): Deferred at this time, for discussion at AGM:

  • Review of bike and tire sizes, e-bikes for kids classes.

  • Review of kids classes, noted that not all clubs familiar with Stacyc bikes for kids and the capabilities of the machines. Note: there is no Stacyc specific class at this time.

All

OPEN

32-24

Discussion of complaints and learnings from Bar Bender Race (Merritt):

  • Complaints that “D” course was too difficult for some younger riders, this includes classes that have e-bikes which are not capable of the same inclines as gas-powered. PN to review further and provide additional guidance after AGM.

  • Lost individuals occurred at the race; racers are instructed not to leave the race course if unable to proceed, or if have left the course and are unable to return their bike, to wait on or as close to race course as possible while being visable. This allows the sweepers to assist and/or send for help.

  • Passing at the gas pits and/or checkpoints; this is permissible if provided the opportunity and not directed otherwise. Passing is NOT permitted at timing gate.

PN to provide responses to club regarding complains/comments.

Brian/Sarah

CLOSED

33-24

Topic of Sweepers: A comment was offered regarding the need for more sweepers for some races and better communication with PN timing/scoring personnel. Clubs provide sweepers, however PN keeps track of racers. PN to provide guidance (not rules) on sweeping, including best practice communication and equipment needs to sweeping a race.

Brian

OPEN

34-24

Question from Parent of Young Racer: Parent asked about kids progressing from “C” course to “B” course, while winning races in “C” course, but also racing “B” course. Can racers race more than one course/class? If so, how does the point system work for this?

Answer: A person can race in two different classes, but points will not be awarded for both races, nor can you “podium” in classes. Progressing racers are encouraged to try out the next class/course up, but points can only be received for one class. If successful in higher class and points are awarded, the points applied to other class raced are lost, or vise versa.

PN member may provide explanation to asking parent.

Awards Night

Accommodate Having Ken and Sarah so plant for March. There would be less winter driving and it could also become a season kickoff. Also the attenders could ride locally.

March date would lose the Bike Show weekend tradition but we could still have a booth.

Holidays are booking all available spots during Dec-Jan also more expensive to book.

Sky Helicopters seems like a good option but would be a lot of extra work to coordinate set up food and take down. A all inclusive venue takes care of those details.

Not a ton of accommodations around for Sky Helicopters.

Emails circulated last week to Vote on venue. Looks like the Clarion is the deciding location. Based on price and ease of logistical planning. Christine to clarify in next meeting.

Vote to change Masters Class to Pro/ All in Favor

Vote to change Womens Expert to Pro All in Favor

Add Womens Payout to $250 to increase turnout/FinancialIncentive/ All in Favor

Top Women racing in other series that do not recognize womens Expert as a Pro Class. Lots of unessesary chatter, Sarah and Quinton having to send Race Licence and explaine.

Masters AMA doesn’t recognize

Pro used everywhere eles

Double A always used

Christine thinks the back and forth/ enough is enough

Unanimus agreement that we need to match other series

Master-Debatores (KEN DAD JOKE)

Maters Men do a Double A Trail, womens doesn’t

Pro men know they have a Double A Split

1000-2000-3000 recognized as Double A Split

Every year we erode one of our historical markers for out series, argue against

Gives Women more creditbility to say PRO

Sarah, every year 2-3 Senior over 60 sign up to the Masters Class

What about Master/Pro? Too much go all in and don’t make the trophies look rediculous

We are not trying to match Alberta Class catagories

If someone in Ontario read out race report they would be confused

“Masters” has grown on Malcom but he would vote Pro to keep things unanimous with other series.

Description for Womens Expert is Weak needs to have stronger language and not make them sound like they are “OK riders”

Re-Name Masters to Pro/ All in Favor

Add Peewee Tykes Class under 4/ no bike distinction

The small ones are scared/ intimidated

Same course different line/ start time

Clear up the D1 D2 and make a E

D is longer with big hills is killing them

Kids saftey is #1

Don’t want kids to quit they are the future racers

Evolution of the kids is happening and the 4yo’s are now coming in older more experienced.

New Peewee Tykes 4 and Under/ All in Favor

Womens Vet Class/ Not enough numbers will re-visit in 2026

CLOSED

54-24

2 New Races on board this coming season

Vedder and Okanogan

2 Throwaways becomes race hacking, one is enough. Anouce further into the season as there needs to be no issues, fires all must go well

Brian thinks no throwaways

But argument about broken bike or crappy race etc.

No riding while race in progress

Re-visit sandwhich boards

Sarah already has a full truck

Better way to mark waterbars

Better sweep practices

Push more Spark Aresstor Education and rider responsibility

Mandatory Manned road crossings

3-2-1- meters to corner signs

OPEN

55-24

Angela has secured the Booth

Banners are missing, use the new ones or print more- old ones look like crap

Malcom to bring a clean Kawi 250 with number plate and PNWMA LOGO’s
