I got this email from Larry Jordan concerning the Popkum Motorcycle Ranch. Love 'em or hate 'em you gotta give a fellow rider a bit of support.
Mike Fodor Wow, Roberta’s daughter, Brienne, who is one of those 20 something internet savvy people has lent a hand to help us with our efforts to bring public attention to the Minister of Indian and Northern Affairs (INAC) Here's a link to an online petition. Feel free to pass it along to get more signatures, and then it will be sent to Chuck Strahl’s office, the Minister of INAC and member of parliament for Chilliwack. http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/save-the-popkum-motorcyle-ranch.html Roberta & Larry Jordan Popkum Motorcycle Ranch ________________________________________ From: ltjcanada@hotmail.com To: ltjcanada@hotmail.com Subject: The Jordans and the Popkum Motorcycle Ranch need your help Date: Fri, 5 Feb 2010 16:44:58 -0800 Hi everyone, Thanks for your interest and support for our efforts to bring you the POPKUM MOTORCYCLE RANCH (PMR). The energy from the Bike show in January was great but we are experiencing serious problems and we very much need your help. The Popkum Indian Band is denying us access to the land, and is claiming we have violated our signed lease with them in order to remove PMR, Larry and Roberta Jordan, and replace us with the Popkum Motorcycle PARK run by Darren Pilling. Our lawyer agrees that we have not violated our lease and we have been attempting to have a dialogue with the Chief of the Popkum Band, James Murphy. He ignores our requests to meet and talk. We have been trying to get help from Minister Chuck Strahl who is not only the federal minister for Chilliwack but also the Minister responsible for Indian and Northern Affairs. They understand what is going on but need more encouragement to help resolve this problem in a fair and reasonable manner. Without your help, our vision of a family oriented riding facility with training and all of the full services we have within our business plan will be lost. The Popkum band, their “manager” Ken Jensen and Darren Pilling will have hi-jacked our business from us. Please e-mail the Minister Chuck Strahl at riding@chuckstrahl.com and tell him how much you want the business you saw at the bike show, the Popkum Motorcycle RANCH, to build the facility we know will best suit the entire riding community. If you would like more information please feel free to e-mail us back. Include your phone number and we’d be happy to call you back. We are happy to talk to anyone. Thanks for your support and love for our sport, Roberta and Larry Jordan Popkum Motorcycle Ranch PS: Please fell free to forward this to any and all motorcycle and ATV friends. Motorcycle shops, Trail riders, ORS racers, Motocross enthusiasts, campers. Anyone who you believe could lend support to help us resolve this devastating situation. |

This has got to be one of the most bizarre things I have ever encountered.
I'm new to the area so I don't know anything about either party other than talking to fellow riders. Only thing I can gather is that this Larry fellow is a bit of a loon. That aside I'd really like to have a track in the valley where I can take my kid to ride in a safe environment. After a few hours of looking at various web boards I can only come to the conclusion something is very very weird. If Larry Jordan had any integrity why has he invested so much time in a well orchestrated smear campaign? If there is a legitimate breach of a lease agreement then it should be settled in a dignified manner between lawyers without whining about it like a little girl. I've seen numerous posts on several different boards which are suposedly from individuals, but the text is identical in every one, and these are not quotes. I've seen numerous posts that start out talking as if from a third person and then are signed "Roberta and Larry" There have been numerous posts supporting Larry usually with another block of cut and paste text. Funny thing is all of these posters have only one or two posts on each board, various different login names, but they all sound like they are written by the same person. One post starts out with "Please help my poor friends" and then is signed Roberta & Larry.... ??? One post seems to be started by a third party offering support for Larry and Roberta. Another poster asks a question which the thread starter responds with: "I passed your comments to Larry at PMR... and he responded..." Slight problem though, the thread timestamp shows the thread author supposedly went to Larry at PMR and got an official written response.... within an hour....? WTF? Riiight, because legitimate Corporations always respond to internet chat boards in writing within minutes... In one post Larry says his trailer was stolen, but it appears it never left the park site...? WTF? And I saw numerous posts that state "they are denying us access to our land!" ...correct me if I'm wrong dear, but you only leased it. You don't own it. Now I've spent an hour of searching trying to find some actual facts, or a copy of this lease Larry supposedly has but I can't find Anything. There's one post from the chief of the band whose land this park is on that fairly clearly outlines Larry repeatedly violated the terms of his lease. But yet he continues on a whining poutfest that he's been wronged. All that aside, there's three sides to any story. My side, Your side and the truth. So make your case with an arbitrator, or a judge and then live with the outcome instead of throwing a tantrum like a little kid. I'm sorry but something just stinks about Larry and this seems to be a smear campaign to taint whomever takes on the task of running the facility. Last thing I saw was that Larry has created a petition calling for native indians to follow the same laws as other Canadians. Does this dude not have anything better to do? Or is he just trying to weasel his way into the favor of some politicians and try to kick some natives off their own land. What's next Larry, a Cross Burning? Get a grip dude... Norman |
